Languyan, Tawi-Tawi — June 1, 2025 — A suspect was killed and over ₱85,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, was confiscated during an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Basnunuk, Languyan, Tawi-Tawi on May 30.

According to the Languyan Municipal Police Station (MPS), the operation was launched at around 4:10 p.m. in response to a tip from a concerned citizen about an ongoing illegal drug transaction in the area. The suspect, known only by the alias “Knight,” was reportedly involved in the sale and distribution of illegal drugs.

Police personnel from Languyan MPS, in coordination with the 212th Marine Company, proceeded to the scene. Upon arrival, the suspect allegedly fired at the operatives using a caliber .45 pistol, prompting a brief exchange of gunfire. The suspect sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Recovered from the scene were:

  • Approximately 12.5 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱85,000
  • A caliber .45 pistol with magazine
  • ₱75,570 in cash
  • Various drug paraphernalia

All seized items were inventoried and marked in the presence of barangay officials and media representatives, in compliance with standard procedures. The evidence has been turned over to the Languyan MPS for proper documentation.

Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) Regional Director PBGEN Romeo J. Macapaz lauded the quick and coordinated efforts of the responding units, emphasizing the continuing commitment of authorities to rid communities in the Bangsamoro region of illegal drugs.
