SULTAN KUDARAT, MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE — A 50-year-old man was brutally killed by his own wife and her alleged lover in what police described as a gruesome crime that occurred in Barangay Ladia on the night of Thursday, May 8, 2025.
The victim was identified as Norodin Gumaga Mustapha, a public utility vehicle driver. According to Sultan Kudarat municipal police chief Lt. Col. Esmael Madin, Mustapha died after being stabbed and having his throat slashed by his wife, 25-year-old Baby Ana Maliga Biwang Mustapha.
Initial investigation revealed that Baby Ana conspired with her neighbor and alleged lover, 22-year-old Montasir Baito Usop, a construction worker. Neighbors reported that the wife called Usop and asked him to bring a sharp bolo knife, which he immediately delivered.
Upon receiving the weapon, Baby Ana reportedly stabbed her husband multiple times inside their home. When Mustapha collapsed, she proceeded to slash his throat in a manner described by authorities as resembling the slaughter of an animal.
A sibling of the victim, who identified herself only as “Lyn,” witnessed the aftermath of the crime. She heard a commotion and rushed to see her brother bleeding heavily, with a deep wound on his neck, while the suspects were seen fleeing the scene carrying the bloodied weapon.
Mustapha was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
Both suspects were quickly apprehended by responding police and barangay officials. They are currently under police custody as investigations continue and criminal charges are being prepared.
