Marawi City, Lanao del Sur – May 8, 2025 — A suspect linked to a recent carnapping case in Marawi City voluntarily surrendered to authorities, leading to the swift recovery of a stolen motorcycle and the arrest of another individual.
The operation forms part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) intensified anti-carnapping campaign under the leadership of PNP Chief, Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil. Police personnel from the Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) responded quickly to the incident.
According to the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, a 34-year-old suspect identified by the alias “Dingcoy” turned himself in to the Marawi City Police Station (CPS) on May 7. He was turned over by a concerned citizen from Barangay Saduc. During initial questioning, the suspect admitted to participating in the carnapping of a Honda Click motorcycle that occurred a day earlier in the same barangay. He further revealed that the stolen motorcycle had already been sold.
Acting on the tip, the Marawi CPS Alert Team launched a hot pursuit operation in Barangay Saduc. This resulted in the arrest of another suspect, known by the alias “Mohammad,” who now faces charges for violating the Anti-Fencing Law.
Police recovered the stolen orange Honda Click motorcycle, which is registered under the name of Hosnie M. Ansary. The vehicle is now secured at the Marawi CPS and will soon be returned to its rightful owner.
Both suspects are currently in police custody as authorities prepare the formal charges.

Macapaz, Regional Director of PRO BAR, praised the efforts of the local police. “This successful operation is a clear manifestation of our relentless commitment to curb carnapping and all forms of motor vehicle theft in the Bangsamoro region,” he said. “We will continue to strengthen our anti-carnapping efforts to ensure peace and security in our communities.”
