Three suspected drug pushers, including a former police officer, were arrested during a buy-bust operation on the evening of May 2 in Barangay Mangagoy, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

Operatives from the Surigao del Sur Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (SDS PDEU), in coordination with the Bislig City Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-SDS), carried out the operation at around 9:14 PM in Purok 3, Central District.

According to PCOL Harry B. Domingo, Provincial Director, the suspects were identified as:

  • “Eman,” 49, a resident of Purok 3, Central District, listed as a Street-Level Individual (SLI) in the drug watchlist;
  • “Tony,” 31, a former PNP member who went Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL), residing in Purok 5, John Bosco, listed as a High-Value Individual (HVI); and
  • “Leng,” 28, a businesswoman from Purok 4, Central District, also listed as an SLI.

Authorities seized an estimated 40 grams of suspected shabu valued at Php 272,000.00, along with Php 1,000 in buy-bust money, a digital weighing scale, and assorted drug paraphernalia including aluminum foils, tooters, lighters, and plastic sachets. A mobile phone and various personal items were also confiscated.

The suspects were immediately informed of their rights under the Miranda doctrine and Anti-Torture Law. The inventory of evidence was witnessed by a Barangay Mangagoy official and a member of the media.

“The successful arrest of these individuals and the seizure of 40 grams of shabu highlight the continued efforts of our law enforcement agencies in the fight against illegal drugs,” said PCOL Domingo. “We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Together, we will build a safer and more secure environment for all.”

Authorities are preparing charges against the suspects for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
