Cagayan de Oro City, May 1, 2025 — A robbery suspect was swiftly apprehended and valuable items worth approximately ₱570,000 were recovered by police authorities in Cagayan de Oro City, thanks to a prompt and technology-aided response by personnel from Police Station 9 under the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO).

The arrest came just hours after a 30-year-old female lawyer reported a break-in at her home on 8th-17th Street, Barangay Nazareth, at around 4:00 p.m. on April 30. The victim told police that an unidentified man forcibly entered her residence and took several valuables.

An initial investigation and a review of CCTV footage revealed that the suspect had used long-nose pliers to unlock the padlocked main door of the house.

Acting quickly, officers used the “Find My iPhone” app to track a stolen device, which led them to Gate 1, Pier, Macabalan. There, they arrested the suspect, identified as a 40-year-old man known by the alias “Hapi,” a resident of Panglao Saduc, Marawi City.

Recovered from the suspect were one iPod 6th Generation valued at ₱20,000, cash amounting to ₱50,000, and assorted jewelry worth approximately ₱500,000. All items have since been returned to the victim.

The suspect is currently detained at Police Station 9 and will face appropriate charges.

Police Regional Office 10 Regional Director PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman commended the swift and efficient action of the responding officers.

“This successful operation underscores the value of modern investigative tools and immediate community cooperation,” said De Guzman. “We commend the alertness of the victim and the quick, decisive action of our police officers. Let this serve as a reminder to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help bring criminals to justice.”

Authorities continue to urge the public to stay alert and to use available technologies to assist in crime prevention and resolution.
