POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato — Authorities are investigating the death of a security guard whose body was discovered in a densely overgrown sugarcane field in Purok Paraiso, Barangay Klinan 6, Polomolok, South Cotabato, on Tuesday afternoon, November 3, 2026.
The victim, initially identified through the alias Johani, was found lifeless at around 2:30 p.m. while wearing a security guard uniform bearing the name “JOHANI H.A.” and identifying him as a security personnel of DOLE Philippines.
According to the initial report of the Polomolok Municipal Police Station, authorities received a call at approximately 3 p.m. from a barangay kagawad of Barangay Silway 6 reporting the discovery of a man’s body in the sugarcane plantation. Police personnel immediately proceeded to the area to verify the report and conduct an initial investigation.
A black Honda Click motorcycle believed to belong to the victim was also found approximately 40 meters from where the body was discovered. The motorcycle is expected to be among the pieces of evidence being examined as investigators work to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Initial information also indicated that the victim had an injury to the facial area. However, authorities have yet to establish the nature and extent of his injuries or determine whether these were connected to the circumstances of his death.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) were requested to process the location and conduct the necessary forensic examination to help establish what happened before the victim was found.
Police are still working to confirm the victim’s full identity, determine the exact cause of death, and establish whether criminal activity was involved. Investigators are also expected to look into the possible connection between the motorcycle and the circumstances that led to the discovery of the body.
As of the latest available information, authorities have not released further details regarding the incident or identified any possible suspect.
