VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon — Two armed men were arrested late Saturday night, May 2, after allegedly storming a residence in Barangay Lilingayon, accusing its occupants of stealing their goat and triggering alarm among residents.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Valencia City, the incident occurred at around 11:00 p.m. in Purok 4, when the suspects—both reportedly carrying firearms—were seen loitering outside a house owned by a 30-year-old man identified only as “Bossing.”

Police said they responded swiftly after receiving a report from the homeowner, who claimed that his two workers were involved in a commotion outside his residence. Initial investigation revealed that the suspects had gone to the area armed, allegedly to confront a married couple living directly across the street.

The wife of the couple told authorities she noticed the two men pacing outside their house while carrying firearms, prompting her to immediately alert her husband and the homeowner. The suspects were later identified as individuals who had allegedly accused the couple of stealing their goat—an accusation that reportedly fueled their anger and led to the confrontation.

Fearing for their safety, the victims sought police assistance, leading to a rapid response from Valencia police operatives.

A hot pursuit operation was subsequently launched, resulting in the arrest of both suspects. Seized from their possession were a shotgun loaded with three live 12-gauge cartridges and a caliber .38 revolver loaded with six rounds of ammunition.

Authorities are now preparing charges against the suspects for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Police emphasized that bringing firearms into civilian areas, especially during personal disputes, poses a serious threat to public safety. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether additional charges may be filed, including possible grave threats or illegal possession of firearms.

The PNP urged the public to resolve conflicts through legal means and to immediately report suspicious or threatening behavior to authorities to prevent escalation of violence.
