A suspected drug personality was arrested after authorities seized an estimated ₱136,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in General Santos City on Thursday, May 21, as part of the intensified anti-illegal drug campaign of the police and anti-narcotics agents.

In a report released by the local police, the operation was carried out along Hicban Street in Barangay Lagao by personnel operating under the supervision of PMAJ Junel Rey S. Gatera, station commander, together with members of the City Intelligence Unit of the General Santos City Police Office and in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The operation resulted in the arrest of a suspect identified only by the alias “Mac-Mac” for alleged violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities said recovered from the suspect were approximately 20 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of ₱136,000, along with marked money used in the operation and other pieces of evidence related to the illegal drug transaction.
Police said the marking and inventory of confiscated evidence were conducted on-site following standard operating procedures and in the presence of required witnesses to ensure transparency and preserve the integrity of the chain of custody.
The suspect remains under police custody while authorities prepare the filing of appropriate criminal charges through inquest proceedings.
The full identity of the arrested individual was withheld by authorities in observance of due process and in accordance with existing regulations.
Police officials said the successful operation underscores the continuing commitment of the Philippine National Police and partner law enforcement agencies in intensifying the campaign against illegal drugs and ensuring peace and public safety in communities across the region.
