DATU ABDULLAH SANGKI, Maguindanao del Sur — Intensified security operations under new police leadership led to the arrest of two individuals during a checkpoint operation in Barangay Talisawa, authorities confirmed.

In a report from the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, personnel of the Datu Abdullah Sangki Municipal Police Station flagged down a blue Skygo motorcycle without license plates. The riders, identified by their aliases “Mokalidin” and “Mohamidin,” were both farmers and residents of Barangay Mao.

Police said the suspects exhibited suspicious behavior, prompting officers to conduct a lawful inspection. During the search, authorities discovered firearms in their possession. The suspects were unable to present any legal documents or authority to carry the weapons.

The two were immediately arrested and are now in police custody as charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 are being prepared.

Authorities said the confiscated firearms will be subjected to ballistic examination at the Regional Forensic Unit to determine whether these were used in previous criminal incidents.

Acting Provincial Director Michael John C. Mangahis commended the оператив personnel for their swift and decisive action, emphasizing that strengthened checkpoint operations remain a critical strategy in preventing the proliferation of loose firearms.

He also issued a stern warning to individuals illegally carrying firearms, stressing that police operations will continue to be intensified across the province to ensure public safety and security.
