CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities arrested three individuals allegedly involved in illegal drug activities during a buy-bust operation conducted Thursday afternoon, April 2, in Zone 5, Barangay Tablon.

Identified only by their aliases, the suspects were “Jay-r,” 38; “Christine,” 33; and “Kenneth,” 28—all residents of the area. They were apprehended at around 4:23 p.m. in a coordinated anti-drug operation led by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), in partnership with the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Northern Mindanao (PDEA-10).

Authorities said the operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 63 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱428,400.

Among the items confiscated were a sachet of suspected shabu used as the buy-bust item, three additional sachets containing the illegal substance, a marked ₱500 bill, a mobile phone, a digital weighing scale, and various drug paraphernalia believed to be used in the distribution of illegal drugs.

Police officials underscored that the presence of a weighing scale and multiple sachets indicates possible involvement in drug trading operations, not merely possession.

The suspects are currently under the custody of the CDEU-COCPO as authorities prepare the filing of appropriate charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Law enforcement agencies reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations in the city, emphasizing that sustained efforts and inter-agency coordination remain crucial in curbing the proliferation of illegal drugs at the community level.
