PLARIDEL, Misamis Occidental — A suspected drug courier was arrested in the early hours of April 20, 2026, following a police roving patrol operation that led to the confiscation of illegal drugs valued at nearly ₱1.4 million.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Harries,” 26, a resident of Lanao del Norte, was apprehended in Purok 5, Barangay Southern Poblacion after authorities noticed his suspicious behavior while carrying a box.
According to the Plaridel Municipal Police Station, officers on routine patrol flagged the individual after observing movements deemed inconsistent and evasive. Upon inspection, the box in his possession was found to contain suspected illegal drugs, prompting the suspect to attempt an escape. However, responding operatives acted swiftly and successfully subdued and arrested him on the spot.
Recovered from the suspect were approximately 205 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱1,394,000. Authorities also seized more than 40 sachets believed to contain the same substance, a carton used for concealment, and ₱1,500 in cash.
Police said the volume and packaging of the confiscated drugs suggest possible involvement in distribution activities, strengthening suspicions that the arrested individual was operating as a courier within a larger drug network.
The suspect is currently under police custody and is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities have launched a deeper investigation to trace the origin of the illegal drugs and identify potential accomplices and links to broader narcotics operations in the region.
The arrest forms part of the continuing intensified anti-drug campaign in Misamis Occidental, as law enforcement agencies ramp up efforts to dismantle supply chains and curb the proliferation of illegal substances in local communities.
