ZAMBOANGA CITY — Authorities seized approximately one kilogram of suspected shabu valued at around P6.4 million and arrested a lone suspect during a buy-bust operation conducted on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, in Barangay Lunzuran.

Operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 9 (PDEA-RO9) carried out the anti-illegal drug operation along Calle Amor, resulting in the successful apprehension of the suspect, who was reportedly identified as a driver.
According to initial reports, the operation was launched following intelligence monitoring on the suspect’s alleged involvement in illegal drug activities. An undercover agent was able to transact with the suspect, leading to the swift execution of the buy-bust that culminated in the confiscation of the illegal substances.
Authorities said the seized drugs, believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu,” weighed roughly one kilogram and have an estimated street value of P6.4 million.
The suspect is currently under the custody of PDEA-RO9 and is expected to face charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEA officials reiterated their commitment to intensify anti-drug operations in the region, emphasizing that the campaign against illegal drugs remains relentless, even during significant holidays such as Easter Sunday.
Further investigation is underway to determine the source of the illegal drugs and identify possible accomplices linked to the suspect.
