ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat — Bai Rihan Mangudadatu Sakaluran has issued a strong warning against the growing incidence of illegal motorcycle drag racing in the municipality, stressing that violators will face strict legal consequences.

The mayor emphasized that such activities pose serious risks to public safety, endangering both motorists and residents, and increasing the likelihood of road accidents and injuries. She underscored that illegal street racing is not merely a nuisance but a dangerous and unlawful act that threatens community order.

In a firm statement, Sakaluran challenged those involved to immediately cease their activities within Isulan, warning that authorities are prepared to track them down. She also called on the public to cooperate by reporting individuals engaged in illegal drag racing through hotline numbers provided by the local government.

The issue intensified after the mayor publicly identified several personalities allegedly involved in the illegal races. In a strongly worded social media post, she expressed outrage over the continued presence of drag racers in her jurisdiction, citing complaints about excessive noise and the heightened risk of accidents.

Sakaluran criticized the offenders—many of them reportedly young individuals—for their disregard of the law and public safety. She stressed that no status, influence, or claim of being a “datu” would exempt anyone from accountability under the law.

Authorities reiterated that illegal drag racing is strictly prohibited under Republic Act No. 4136. Violators may face fines ranging from ₱300,000 to ₱500,000 or imprisonment of up to one year.

The mayor urged motorists, particularly the youth, to exercise discipline and respect traffic laws. She assured residents that the local government will intensify monitoring and enforcement efforts to eliminate illegal drag racing and ensure safer roads in Isulan.

“We will not stop until our roads are safe for everyone,” Sakaluran said.
