KIBAWE, Bukidnon — A 50-year-old man was arrested by police after allegedly firing a gun while intoxicated in a residential area of Kibawe town on April 19, authorities confirmed.

According to investigators, operatives from the Kibawe Municipal Police Station immediately responded after receiving reports of gunshots heard in the area. Upon arrival, police conducted an initial inquiry which revealed that the suspect had been drinking with a neighbor prior to the incident.

Authorities said the situation escalated when the man, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, became unruly and suddenly discharged his firearm, causing alarm among nearby residents.

Recovered from the suspect was an Armscor 9mm pistol loaded with five live cartridges. The firearm was seized as evidence.

The suspect is now facing charges for illegal discharge of a firearm and violation of Republic Act No. 10591, which governs the ownership, possession, and use of firearms in the country.

He is currently under the custody of the Kibawe Municipal Police Station while authorities await the results of ballistic and paraffin tests that will further strengthen the case against him.

Police reiterated their warning against irresponsible firearm use, especially under the influence of alcohol, emphasizing the potential danger it poses to public safety.
