NORALA, South Cotabato — A 34-year-old pregnant woman was found dead with a nearly severed head in a grassy farm area in Sitio El Kuda, Barangay Puti, Norala town on Saturday morning, March 14, 2026, authorities said.

The victim was identified by the Norala Municipal Police Station as Marivic Capion, a married resident of the municipality and a Person with Disability (PWD) who was already in the final stage of her pregnancy.

Initial findings from the ongoing investigation revealed that Capion’s body was discovered lifeless in a thickly vegetated portion of the farmland, bearing a deep wound in the neck that almost separated her head from her body.

Police also recovered a bolo near the victim’s body, which investigators believe may have been used in the brutal killing.

Authorities have yet to determine the identity of the suspect and the motive behind the attack as the investigation continues.

Police said the victim’s remains will be brought to Emmanuel Funeral Homes in Sto. Niño, South Cotabato, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to help establish further details surrounding her death.

The gruesome killing has shocked residents of Norala, particularly because the victim was heavily pregnant and living with a disability. Police are urging anyone with information that may help identify the perpetrator to coordinate with authorities as efforts continue to solve the case.
