GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A quiet farming community in Barangay Katangawan was jolted by a gruesome हत्या on Tuesday morning, March 31, after a farm worker was found dead with his throat slit inside his makeshift home.
The victim, identified by police as Bilmar Marco Danieles Sr., an adult farm laborer, was discovered lifeless at around 5:00 a.m. in Purok 5A, lying in a pool of his own blood. Authorities said the victim sustained a deep, fatal wound to the neck, indicating he was brutally attacked with a sharp object.
According to initial reports from the General Santos City Police Office, it was Danieles’ son, Bilmar Danieles Jr., who found his father’s body. The younger Danieles immediately sought help from neighbors and barangay officials, prompting a swift response from authorities.
Investigators revealed that prior to the killing, the victim had been drinking with a man identified only as Darwin Dawang, also a fellow farm worker. Both were reportedly employed at a local agricultural farm in the area.
Witness accounts and barangay officials disclosed that the two men were last seen together on Monday evening, March 30, sharing drinks. By around 1:00 a.m., they were even seen dancing, with no apparent signs of conflict at the time.
However, just hours later, the situation turned tragic.
Police now consider Dawang a primary person of interest after he reportedly fled the area shortly after the incident and has not been seen since. A manhunt operation has been launched to locate and apprehend the suspect.
Responding officers immediately secured the crime scene while personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) processed physical evidence to help reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the killing.
Authorities have yet to establish a clear motive behind the brutal attack but are pursuing multiple angles, including the possibility of a heated altercation that may have escalated during the drinking session.
The General Santos City Police assured the public that efforts are underway to ensure justice for the victim and to prevent similar incidents, as the violent crime has shaken residents in the otherwise მშვიდ community.
“We are conducting a thorough and in-depth investigation. We urge anyone with information to come forward,” a police official said.
As of this writing, the suspect remains at large.
