General Santos City is once again confronted with a horrifying tragedy—one that reflects not only the senseless brutality inflicted on an innocent young woman, but also the alarming rise of violent crimes terrorizing the community. The cold-blooded killing of 21-year-old graduating student Yuki “Miyuki” Kim, found lifeless with more than 15 stab wounds inside her room in Purok DBP, Barangay Apopong, is an atrocity that demands the strongest condemnation and swift, uncompromising justice.
Yuki, a promising Mindanao State University student, was alone in their unfinished home on the night of December 7 after her mother and stepfather left for a gathering. She never followed as expected. By the next morning, she would be found in a pool of her own blood—violently attacked inside what should have been the safest place for her.
Chilling Discovery
According to Barangay Kagawad Lucia, the first person alerted was a cashier from the nearby lotto outlet who noticed that the house door was open while Yuki’s room remained locked. When the room was forcibly opened, they were met with a disturbing scene: the young woman’s body, drenched in blood, bearing over 15 stab wounds in different parts of her body.
Her friend Arman, who had brought her food the previous night, was stunned upon learning the brutal news early the next morning.
Neighbors also reported suspicious signs, including the house lights being turned off earlier than usual and the family dog barking persistently during the night—details that may be crucial to the investigation.
Robbery as Leading Motive
Police investigators confirmed that money and several personal items were missing from Yuki’s room, making robbery the primary motive being pursued by authorities.
General Santos City Police Office Director PCOL Nicomedes Olaivar Jr. said that investigators and intelligence units are now reviewing leads, gathering evidence, and interviewing individuals—including the victim’s mother and stepfather—who may have knowledge of the case.
PCOL Olaivar also confirmed that three persons of interest are now under close scrutiny, though details remain confidential pending confirmation.
Family and Community in Deep Grief
The victim’s mother collapsed in shock and grief upon discovering her daughter’s bloodied body—a moment no parent should ever experience. The community, likewise, is mourning and enraged, demanding justice and greater protection amid the increasing incidents of violent crimes in the city.
Police Call for Public Cooperation
PCOL Olaivar urged residents to report any information that could help accelerate the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
A Call for Justice
The brutal killing of Yuki Lim is not just another crime—it is a direct assault on the safety, dignity, and peace of General Santos City. Her death must not fade into silence. It must compel authorities to confront, with urgency, the rising tide of violence that continues to claim innocent lives.
To the bereaved family, we extend our deepest sympathy. Your grief is shared by the entire community. May justice for Yuki be delivered swiftly, decisively, and without compromise.
Another innocent life has been stolen. The people of General Santos City say: never again.
