The Zamboanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (ZCCIFI) formally launched the ZamGo Mobile Application on Saturday, February 14, marking a significant step toward strengthening digital connectivity and market access for local enterprises in Zamboanga City.

Unveiled during a ceremony at Astoria Hotel, the ZamGo app offers business owners a centralized platform to update company profiles, post promotions, and directly engage customers through an integrated dashboard. For users, the application provides navigation tools and location-based features designed to make it easier to discover establishments across the city.

Strong Support from City Leadership

Mayor Khymer Olaso, who led city officials at the launch, expressed strong support for the initiative, highlighting the importance of digital adaptation in a rapidly evolving economy.

Drawing from his experience as a former businessman, Olaso emphasized that innovation is essential for local enterprises to remain competitive. He also stressed the need for responsible management of the platform, calling for close coordination between developers, business groups, and the local government to ensure data security and system reliability.

Joining the mayor was his Chief of Staff and Secretary, Celso Lobregat, who likewise underscored the value of technology-driven governance and private-sector collaboration.

A Platform for MSMEs and Tourism

The ZamGo Mobile App is a flagship project of ZCCIFI under the leadership of its president, Andrew Wee, and was developed by local technology firm Vintazk.

According to organizers, the platform is the first of its kind in the city to offer a unified digital system for legitimate businesses, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), tourism establishments, and service providers. Participation requires only a minimal fee, making the app accessible even to small entrepreneurs.

Through ZamGo and its companion Business Directory App, users can access information on hotels, restaurants, cafés, supermarkets, and tourist destinations using QR codes and mobile navigation tools. The system aims to guide both residents and visitors on where to dine, shop, and explore—ensuring that local businesses benefit directly from increased foot traffic and tourism activity.

Aligned with City’s Modernization Agenda

City officials noted that the ZamGo launch complements the administration’s broader digital transformation agenda, as outlined in Mayor Olaso’s recent State of the City Address. The initiative supports the city’s push toward modernization, e-governance, and inclusive economic growth.

By consolidating business information into a single, user-friendly platform, the app is expected to improve market visibility, streamline customer engagement, and enhance the overall experience for tourists and investors.

Broad Stakeholder Participation

Several key city officials and stakeholders attended the launching ceremony, including Councilor Rey Bayoging, Executive Assistant Junty Nuega Castillo, Business Permits and Licensing Office Chief Benjie Barredo, and City Tourism Officer Sarita Hernandez.

Their presence highlighted the strong institutional backing behind the project and the city’s commitment to fostering public-private partnerships.

Driving Inclusive Growth Through Technology

ZCCIFI officials said ZamGo is envisioned as more than just a digital directory. It is designed to serve as a growth engine for local enterprises by improving market reach, strengthening customer relationships, and promoting transparency in business operations.

“With ZamGo, we are building a bridge between technology and entrepreneurship,” organizers said. “This platform empowers businesses to adapt, innovate, and thrive in the digital age.”

As Zamboanga City continues to position itself as a dynamic hub for trade and tourism in Mindanao, the launch of the ZamGo Mobile App signals a renewed commitment to leveraging technology for inclusive and sustainable economic development.
