KIBAWE, Bukidnon — A 34-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital after she was shot by an unidentified suspect inside her store on Monday evening, February 9, 2026, in Purok 5, Kiorob, Barangay Talahiron, Kibawe town.


The Kibawe Municipal Police Station identified the victim as “Telma,” a resident and small business owner in the area. The incident occurred at around 6:50 p.m., according to police reports.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspect suddenly appeared near the victim’s store, drew a firearm, and fired at her at close range. The victim was hit on the right cheek, with the bullet exiting through her neck and reaching her left shoulder.
Despite the severity of her injuries, Telma was immediately brought by her family and nearby residents to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital, where she is currently confined and reported to be in stable condition.
Responding officers recovered a spent shell casing from a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene, indicating the type of firearm used in the attack.
A minor who witnessed the incident told authorities that the suspect was wearing a black jacket, cargo shorts, and a black cap at the time of the shooting. After firing the shot, the assailant fled in an unknown direction.
Police said they received the report from a concerned citizen shortly after 6:00 p.m., prompting an immediate response and the conduct of a crime scene investigation.
Authorities are now looking into possible motives behind the shooting, including personal disputes and other angles, while reviewing witness accounts and gathering additional evidence.
The Kibawe PNP, in coordination with its Intelligence Section, has launched a hot pursuit operation and intensified patrols in nearby areas to track down the suspect.
Police officials urged anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspect to immediately coordinate with the nearest police station, emphasizing that public cooperation is vital in solving the case and ensuring community safety.
