Jolo, Sulu — The passenger vessel M/V Prince Majesty of Ibnirezam Shipping Lines was forced to return to the Jolo port just over an hour after departing for Zamboanga City on the evening of February 8, 2026, following a reported technical issue.

According to reports, the ship, which has a capacity of approximately 200 passengers, experienced a minor leak in one of its pipes, prompting the crew to immediately turn the vessel back to port and notify the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Western Sulu to ensure passenger safety. No injuries were reported.

PCG personnel conducted an inspection of the vessel early this morning, while officials from the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Zamboanga are reviewing the ship’s seaworthiness certification. Authorities indicated that the M/V Prince Majesty is expected to resume its voyage by the evening of February 10, 2026, pending approval.

Meanwhile, passengers affected by the delayed trip will be prioritized to board the M/V Honduras, another vessel with a 400-passenger capacity, scheduled to depart later today.

Local authorities and shipping operators emphasized that the decision to return the ship was a precautionary measure, prioritizing passenger safety over schedule, underscoring the importance of vigilance in maritime operations.
