LAS NIEVES, AGUSAN DEL NORTE — Police authorities have arrested a 47-year-old man identified only by the alias “BEBE” in a law enforcement operation conducted in Purok 6, Barangay Bonifacio, Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte on February 10, 2026.

The suspect, a married farmer and member of an Indigenous People (IP) community, was apprehended by operatives of the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office through the Las Nieves Municipal Police Station, following the implementation of a standing warrant of arrest.
According to police records, the warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 7, Bayugan City on June 11, 2020, in connection with a case of Frustrated Murder under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code. The case is docketed as Criminal Case No. 6483, with a recommended bail of ₱200,000.
Provincial Director April Mark C. Young confirmed that the suspect had long been considered a wanted person and was finally located after intensified police monitoring and coordination.
Illegal Firearm and Drugs Seized
During the arrest, police officers conducted a search incidental to the lawful apprehension and recovered several illegal items from the suspect’s possession. These included:
- A homemade shotgun without serial number
- A firearm barrel bolt
- A magazine and live ammunition
- Suspected illegal drugs locally known as “shabu”
Authorities said the confiscated items were properly documented and secured as evidence.
Additional Criminal Charges Filed
Aside from the Frustrated Murder case, the suspect will also face additional charges for violating:
- Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and
- Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)
Following standard procedure, the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights in a language he understands and is currently under the custody of the Las Nieves Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and court proceedings.
Witnessed by Civilian and Government Representatives
Police reported that representatives from the Department of Justice, members of the media, and barangay officials were present during the operation to ensure transparency and compliance with legal requirements.

In a statement, PCOL Young emphasized the police force’s commitment to public safety and law enforcement.

The Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office is steadfast in maintaining a strong operational presence and enforcing the law with diligence and integrity to ensure a safe and secure province for all,” he said.
He also called on residents of Agusan del Norte and nearby areas, including Agusan del Sur, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or sightings of wanted persons to authorities.

The successful arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of local police units to curb criminal activities, particularly those involving violent crimes, loose firearms, and illegal drugs.
Authorities reiterated that law enforcement agencies will continue to strengthen intelligence operations and community partnerships to maintain peace and order in the province and ensure the safety of all residents.
