IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — A well-known local entrepreneur was shot dead inside her own home on Wednesday night, February 4, 2026, in what authorities described as a brazen and targeted attack that has alarmed residents of Nesorecom Village Subdivision in Barangay Magdaup.

The victim was identified as Madonna Mohammad Sablani, 45, a widow and the owner of the popular restaurant Marazzi. Police said Sablani was inside her residence at around 7:40 p.m. when two unidentified suspects allegedly forced their way into the house and opened fire at close range.
Initial investigation by the Ipil Municipal Police Station revealed that one of the suspects drew a .45-caliber handgun and shot the victim in the face, with the bullet exiting through the back of her head, causing her instantaneous death. Responding officers declared her dead at the scene.
Authorities believe the assailants had been trailing Sablani as she returned home and waited for the right moment to strike. Investigators said the suspects fled immediately after the shooting aboard a red Honda CRF150 motorcycle without a license plate, heading toward the neighboring town of Titay.
Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered spent shell casings from a .45-caliber pistol at the crime scene. The victim’s remains were later turned over to her family after forensic processing.
“We are currently reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing possible witnesses to identify the perpetrators. As of now, the motive remains unclear,” a police spokesperson said.
The Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office confirmed that a hot pursuit operation and coordination with nearby police stations have been launched to track down the suspects. Checkpoints were also set up along major routes leading out of Ipil.
Residents expressed fear and concern over the killing, noting that the attack occurred inside a gated subdivision and in full view of nearby homes.
“This incident shows that no one is safe, even inside their own house. We are deeply worried,” a resident said.
Police urged the public to cooperate with authorities and report any information related to the suspects or the red motorcycle.
“Anyone who may have seen the suspects or has knowledge of their movements is encouraged to contact the nearest police station immediately,” authorities said.
As of press time, investigators continue to determine whether the killing was connected to personal disputes, business-related issues, or other possible motives. The case remains under active investigation.
