GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A 29-year-old security guard was shot dead while sleeping in a hammock in front of their bunkhouse at Purok 5 KPS, DPB Homes, Barangay Mabuhay, General Santos City, in a brazen attack that has shocked residents of the area.

The victim was identified as Romneck Brondonio, a resident of Baluntay, Alabel, Sarangani Province. According to police reports, Brondonio was resting in a hammock outside their bunkhouse when an unidentified assailant shot him in the head, causing his instantaneous death.

Authorities said the victim sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head, leaving him no chance to survive. Responding police units immediately cordoned off the area and conducted an initial investigation.

The General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) confirmed that they are actively pursuing a person of interest in connection with the killing. Investigators are currently gathering statements from possible witnesses and reviewing available evidence to establish the motive and identify the suspect.

Police have not yet released details on the possible motive behind the attack, but they are not ruling out any angle, including personal grudge or work-related motives.

“We are intensifying our investigation and following all leads to ensure that the suspect is identified and brought to justice,” authorities said.

The incident has raised concerns over safety and security in the area, with residents calling for increased police visibility and swift action against violent crimes.
