MARAWI CITY — The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) has categorically denied viral social media claims alleging that at least 80 teachers in Lanao del Sur are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), calling the circulating information false, unverified, and misleading.

In an official statement, the MSSD clarified that no formal or validated report has been submitted to its office regarding the supposed 83 teachers allegedly listed as 4Ps beneficiaries. The ministry stressed that the names, figures, and breakdowns circulating online did not undergo any official validation process and were not released by any government agency.

The MSSD also refuted claims that a meeting had been conducted between the MSSD and the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education–BARMM (MBHTE-BARMM) to discuss the issue. According to the ministry, no such meeting took place, contrary to assertions made in the viral post.

Further compounding the misinformation, the MSSD said photos used in the circulating content were taken out of context. The images, dated October 31, 2024, were from a Memorandum of Agreement signing between the MSSD and MBHTE for technical-vocational skills training for legitimate 4Ps beneficiaries—an event that has no connection whatsoever to the claims involving teachers.

The ministry also clarified that the individual who posted the controversial content has no official affiliation or authority from the MSSD, the 4Ps program, or the MBHTE, raising further doubts about the credibility of the information being spread online.

“The MSSD remains committed to ensuring the proper and transparent implementation of all social protection programs,” the statement read. “We continue to closely monitor and assess our beneficiaries to make sure that government assistance reaches only those who are truly qualified.”

The MSSD urged the public to exercise caution and avoid sharing unverified information, especially those not originating from the official social media platforms of the MSSD or the 4Ps program.

For reports of alleged irregularities in the implementation of the 4Ps, the public is encouraged to contact the 4Ps-BARMM Grievance Hotline at 0969-621-0019 or send a message through the official Facebook page of the MSSD.

The clarification comes amid the rapid spread of a viral post claiming that MBHTE-BARMM was investigating around 80 teachers across several municipalities in Lanao del Sur—claims the MSSD has now firmly dismissed as baseless and unfounded.
