PANDAG, Maguindanao del Sur — A 48-year-old farmer was killed on the spot after being ruthlessly shot by motorcycle-riding assailants along a highway in Barangay Kayaga, Pandag town, on Sunday night, January 4, 2026, police authorities confirmed.
The victim was identified as Jacky Kuga Hanapi, a resident of Barangay Kayaga. According to the Pandag Municipal Police Station, Hanapi was sitting by the roadside when two unidentified men aboard a motorcycle suddenly approached him. One of the suspects immediately opened fire using a pistol, hitting the victim multiple times.
Hanapi sustained two gunshot wounds, which caused his instantaneous death. The attackers swiftly fled the scene on their motorcycle toward an unknown direction, leaving the victim lifeless at the roadside.
Responding police officers recovered two spent shell casings at the crime scene, believed to have been fired from the suspects’ firearm. Barangay officials and police investigators are working closely to identify the assailants and determine the motive behind the killing.
Authorities said Hanapi’s body was immediately buried by his family, in accordance with Islamic tradition, which requires burial within 24 hours of death.
Police have launched a thorough investigation and vowed to pursue all leads to bring the perpetrators to justice. As of this writing, the suspects remain at large.
