PANDAG, Maguindanao del Sur — Authorities are investigating the discovery of the body of an unidentified man found dead in front of a residence in Sitio Bakotoy, Barangay Pandag Proper, in the municipality of Pandag on Sunday morning, March 8.

Initial reports said the lifeless body was discovered at around 11:00 a.m. in an area locally referred to as “African” in Pandag Proper. Residents immediately alerted local authorities after noticing the man lying motionless in front of a house.

According to preliminary information gathered at the scene, the victim had a rope tied around his neck, suggesting he may have been strangled. Investigators are currently examining whether the rope or a porter-like cord found on the victim was used in the possible killing.

Police said the victim has yet to be identified as of this writing.

Based on the initial description, the deceased is estimated to be around 5 feet and 4 inches tall. He was reportedly wearing denim jeans, a white T-shirt, and a black jacket when he was found.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of foul play and are currently conducting further investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, including the possible motive and persons responsible.

Local officials have appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the victim. Residents who may recognize the man or have information that could help authorities are urged to coordinate with the local police station or barangay officials in Pandag.

The body remains under the custody of authorities while efforts to establish the victim’s identity and trace his relatives continue.

Police said updates will be released once further details from the ongoing investigation become available.
