LEBAK, Sultan Kudarat — A barangay peacekeeping action team (BPAT) member was found dead along a road in Barangay Barurao Uno, Lebak on Thursday morning, in what authorities believe to be a case of shooting.
The victim was identified as Miguel, 46, a married resident of a nearby barangay and an active barangay tanod of Barangay Tibpuan.
Police said the lifeless body of Miguel was discovered at around 10:15 a.m. along the Barangay Road in Purok Durian, Barurao Uno. Initial inspection showed apparent gunshot wounds to his head, indicating he may have been shot before his body was dumped at the site.
Investigators reported that the victim was last seen earlier that morning before he was found dead at around 9:45 a.m. Authorities are currently conducting a meticulous backtracking of CCTV footage in the area to trace the victim’s movements and identify possible suspects or vehicles that may have been involved.
Police have also coordinated with the victim’s family to gather additional information that may help establish the motive behind the killing.
The Lebak Municipal Police Station has vowed a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the slain BPAT member, as the community expresses grief and concern over the violent attack.
Authorities urge anyone with information to coordinate with the police to aid in solving the case.
