OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental — Two individuals, a father and his son, were found dead following a tragic electrocution incident in Purok 2, Barangay Dimaluna, Ozamiz City, amid days of moderate to heavy rainfall affecting the province. The incident was officially reported to the Ozamiz City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) at around 7:44 a.m. on December 15, 2025, prompting an immediate response from CDRRMO Team 1.

Initial reports identified the victims as Rey O. Dela Peña Sr., 47, and his son Rey M. Dela Peña Jr., 26. Authorities said the younger Dela Peña allegedly crashed and was electrocuted after coming into contact with barbed wire during the night. Concerned for his son’s safety, the father reportedly conducted a search and, upon locating him, attempted to provide assistance—only to be electrocuted as well. Responding personnel secured the area, provided necessary assistance, and documented the incident for official records. The tragedy occurred as Ozamiz City and the rest of Misamis Occidental continued to experience moderate to heavy rains brought about by prevailing Easterlies, with local authorities once again urging residents to remain vigilant and exercise extreme caution during inclement weather.
