Manay, Davao Oriental — Authorities intervened on Thursday morning, December 25, 2025, after a group led by a man identifying himself as “Datu Watawat” or “Senior Rubin Hari” erected a barricade along the main road in Barangay San Ignacio, disrupting traffic and alarming residents.

According to police, the group placed large crosses and flags at the center of the road, halting vehicles and allegedly demanding payment from motorists and even the government. Their justification: they claim to be the rightful owners of the world.

Motorists protested the group’s actions, saying the barricade caused delays and unnecessary tension during the busy holiday period. Concerned residents immediately reported the matter to authorities.

Police officers responded promptly and confronted the group to ensure the road would be cleared and public safety restored. Officers also issued stern warnings against further disruption to the community.

Investigators are now determining if the group poses a security threat, including whether their actions are linked to any form of extremism or fraud. Authorities are also verifying the mental and behavioral condition of those involved.

The police assured the public that peace and safety in the area remain under control as the inquiry continues.

Community leaders have urged residents to remain calm and report any unusual activities that could endanger public safety.

As of this writing, normal traffic flow in Barangay San Ignacio has been restored.
