VALENCIA CITY, BUKIDNON — A suspected “notorious killer” and an unidentified companion were killed after engaging police operatives in an armed confrontation during the service of a warrant of arrest early Monday morning, December 30, in Purok 1, Barangay Vintar.
Police identified the primary target as alias John (also known as Johnny), a resident of San Fernando, Bukidnon, who has long been wanted for multiple counts of Murder, Frustrated Murder, and Attempted Murder.
According to the report, the operating team arrived at the cemetery area in Purok 1 around 7:00 a.m. to serve the warrant. However, instead of surrendering peacefully, the suspect allegedly pulled out a firearm, prompting officers to retaliate.
Both alias John and his companion were hit and died instantly.
Recovered from the crime scene were two caliber .45 pistols, several rounds of ammunition, and loaded magazines believed to have been used by the suspects.
Police intelligence previously linked alias John to a string of shooting incidents in San Fernando, Valencia City, Cagayan de Oro City, and other areas in Bukidnon. Authorities had branded him a “notorious killer” due to his alleged involvement in multiple violent attacks.
Responders from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) – Valencia assisted in the transport of the bodies to a local funeral home. The identity of the second suspect remains under verification.
Authorities assured the public that law enforcement actions will continue to focus on arresting armed criminals and neutralizing threats to community safety.
“This should serve as a warning to individuals who continue to choose violence—our police will not hesitate to protect the public from dangerous personalities,” an officer said in a briefing.
The investigation is ongoing as police continue to trace other associates and criminal links of the slain suspect.
