TACURONG CITY, Sultan Kudarat — A 33-year-old man who figured in a road accident on Wednesday afternoon ended up in police custody instead of a hospital bed after authorities discovered a firearm and suspected illegal drugs in his bag.

The suspect, known only as “Dhats,” a resident of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, was initially assisted by responders following a self-accident around 5:00 p.m. on December 10 in Barangay EJC Montilla. However, responding officers from the Tacurong City Police Station immediately arrested him after finding a homemade Uzi-type 9mm firearm, 13 live ammunition, and several sachets of suspected shabu inside his belongings.

Police also confiscated his blue Bajaj motorcycle, which bore no license plate.

According to investigators, instead of being taken to a medical facility, “Dhats” was brought directly to the police station after the discovery of the firearm and illegal drugs—raising suspicions that he may have been involved in other unlawful activities prior to the accident.

Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunitions) are now being prepared against him.

The suspect remains under the custody of the Tacurong City Police as further investigation continues.
