DAVAO CITY — A boxing coach and a senior production staff were arrested after authorities seized suspected liquid marijuana and dried marijuana leaves worth more than ₱1 million during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Maa on Tuesday afternoon, December 30.
Police identified the suspects only by their aliases: “Boss,” 25, a boxing coach considered a High-Value Individual (HVI), and “Kirby,” 30, tagged as a Street-Level Individual (SLI). Both are residents of Punta Dumalag 1 in Barangay Matina Aplaya.
The operation was conducted around 3:00 p.m. at Purok 27, Padaman Riverside, by operatives of the Davao City Police following surveillance and intelligence monitoring on the suspects’ alleged illegal activities.
Seized from the duo were a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing high-grade marijuana leaves and multiple vape pens reportedly filled with liquid marijuana.
Police estimated the total value of the confiscated contraband at approximately ₱1,045,000 — ₱925,000 worth of liquid marijuana and ₱120,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves.
The suspects are now under police custody and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to sustaining the intensified campaign against illegal drugs in the city, particularly through dismantling networks involving high-value targets.
