TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte — Two miners were arrested in a joint anti-drug operation conducted by authorities late Friday night, November 1, 2025, in Purok 7, Barangay Magdum, Tagum City.

The Tagum City Police Station, in coordination with the Davao del Norte Provincial Intelligence Unit (DNPIU) and the 1st Davao Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st DNPMFC), carried out the buy-bust operation around 11:52 p.m., resulting in the arrest of two suspects identified only by their aliases “Jojo,” 39, a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Tapia, Montevista, Davao de Oro, and “John,” 31, a resident of Purok Maharlika, Barangay Visayan Village, Tagum City.

During the operation, a poseur-buyer successfully purchased one big rectangular heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu using a marked ₱500 bill and six photocopied ₱1,000 bills.

Upon searching the suspects, police recovered additional illegal drugs. From alias “Jojo,” authorities seized a coin purse containing two big rectangular, two medium rectangular, and three small elongated heat-sealed plastic sachets — all believed to contain shabu. From alias “John,” police confiscated a black coin purse with one medium rectangular, two small elongated, and one small rectangular sachet of suspected shabu, along with a Suzuki Raider motorcycle allegedly used in the transaction.

The confiscated illegal drugs, weighing an estimated five (5) grams, have a total street value of around ₱34,000 based on the standard drug price.

Both suspects are currently under the custody of the Tagum City Police Station and will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Frederick E. Deles, Acting Chief of Police of Tagum City, urged the public to remain vigilant and report any illegal activities in their communities by calling 911 or contacting the police hotline at 0919-748-5024.

“We encourage all Tagumenyos to work with the police in our continued fight against illegal drugs and other criminal activities,” PLTCOL Deles said in a statement.
