Davao City — November 27, 2025. Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) seized nearly ₱700,000 worth of suspected smuggled cigarettes and arrested two individuals during a law enforcement operation in Barangay Manuel Guianga, Davao City.

The operation, carried out by the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) 11 under the supervision of PLTCOL Maynard D. Pascual, stemmed from an initial report on illegal gambling activity in the area. Personnel of the Los Amigos Police Station provided operational support.

While conducting surveillance, operatives spotted two men — identified only as alias Radz and alias Nurs — openly stacking and arranging both opened and sealed mastercases of cigarettes beside a residential road. The items immediately raised suspicion as potential contraband.

Upon questioning, Radz admitted he had transported the mastercases, which were intended for resale and pickup by a client. Authorities seized 10 mastercases containing 495 reams of suspected smuggled cigarettes, broken down as follows:

  • 286 reams of GREENHILLS
  • 200 reams of BOSQU
  • 9 reams of BROS

The total estimated value of the confiscated cigarettes is ₱693,000.

Both suspects, along with the seized items, were turned over to the Los Amigos Police Station for proper disposition. A case has been filed for violation of Republic Act 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

PRO 11, led by Regional Director PBGEN Leon Victor Z. Rosete, reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out the directives of Acting PNP Chief PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., particularly in intensifying anti-smuggling efforts across the region.

Authorities continue to urge residents to report suspicious activities, emphasizing that community cooperation remains crucial in maintaining peace and security throughout the Davao Region.
