MABINI, Davao de Oro — A local barangay official, elected by the people and entrusted to uphold the law, was caught allegedly engaging in the very crimes he vowed to prevent. Alyas Chardix, 42, was arrested in a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) buy-bust operation on the evening of November 27, 2025, in Purok 4, Barangay Pangibiran, Mabini.
Authorities said Chardix was apprehended after allegedly selling a sachet of shabu weighing five grams, valued at ₱47,000, to an undercover PDEA agent. During the operation, police also confiscated four additional heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu, totaling 28 grams and estimated at ₱265,000, along with marked buy-bust money.
The arrest has shocked the community, raising serious questions about integrity in public service. “This is a blatant betrayal of public trust,” a police source stated. “An official sworn to enforce the law should never be breaking it.”
Chardix is now detained and faces charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (R.A. 9165). His alleged involvement in illegal drugs not only violates the law but also undermines the credibility of local governance and the safety of the community he was elected to serve.
This case serves as a stark reminder that no one is above the law, and that accountability is essential for public servants. The people of Mabini and Davao de Oro will be watching closely as legal proceedings unfold, demanding that justice be served.
