PRESIDENT ROXAS, COTABATO — Police rushed to Sitio Kampo in Barangay Salat early Thursday morning after residents reported hearing bursts of gunfire echoing through the area.

According to information gathered by the news team, Barangay Captain Abu Ahmad Haris Macaalay called the local police station shortly after 8:00 a.m. to alert authorities about the gunshots heard within the community.

Initial verification suggests that two unidentified groups were involved in a brief but intense exchange of gunfire, which reportedly lasted around 15 minutes. The identities, motives, and exact number of individuals involved remain unclear as authorities continue their investigation.

Police are still determining whether there were any casualties or injuries resulting from the encounter. Meanwhile, law enforcers have been deployed to maintain vigilance and prevent further escalation of violence in the area.

Authorities assured residents that security measures are in place as the investigation continues.
