IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY — Three suspects were arrested while a minor was rescued in a successful anti-drug operation led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 9 (PDEA RO9) on Wednesday morning, October 9, 2025, in Barangay Don Andres, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The operation, conducted at around 9:15 a.m., was implemented by agents of the PDEA Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office with support from the PDEA Regional Special Enforcement Team (RSET), Ipil Municipal Police Station, and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit. The search was carried out by virtue of Search Warrant No. 309 issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 24 in Ipil.

Authorities confiscated five heat-sealed plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, weighing approximately 10 grams and valued at ₱68,000. Several drug paraphernalia—including improvised aluminum foil gutters, tooters, and lighters—were also seized during the operation.

Arrested were identified as alias “Jerry,” 28, a laborer; alias “Michael,” 26, a tricycle driver; and alias “Dandil,” 27, a laborer—all residents of Barangay Don Andres.

A 16-year-old minor, identified only as alias “Jorge,” was also rescued and will be turned over to the proper institution for intervention and counseling.

The arrested suspects will face multiple charges for violation of Sections 6, 7, 11, 12, and 13, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended.

PDEA RO9, under the leadership of Director III Bryan B. Babang, reaffirmed its commitment to intensify anti-drug operations across the Zamboanga Peninsula in line with its mission to sustain a drug-free region.

“PDEA RO9 remains steadfast in its campaign against illegal drugs and continues to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities,” the agency said in a statement.
