Matanao, Davao del Sur — A 53-year-old man claiming to be a Commanding General of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) was arrested on Wednesday morning, October 8, 2025, during a joint law enforcement operation in Barangay Lower Marber, Matanao, Davao del Sur.

Authorities identified the suspect only by his alias “Edgar,” a resident of Purok 4 in the same barangay. He was apprehended by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Davao del Sur, in coordination with personnel from the Matanao Municipal Police Station, the 2nd Davao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company (DSPMFC), and the Provincial Investigation Teams (PIT) of Davao del Sur and Davao de Oro.

The arrest was carried out by virtue of Search Warrant No. 30 (25) issued by Executive Judge Maria Fe Orig-Maloloy-on of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Digos City.

During the search, authorities reportedly recovered three assorted firearms and several rounds of live ammunition from the suspect’s residence.

The suspect is now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and will be brought to court for inquest proceedings.

The arrest was part of the police’s ongoing intensified campaign against loose firearms and individuals falsely claiming authority under recognized organizations.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of PCPT Junrey L. Torres, Officer-in-Charge of the Matanao Municipal Police Station, with the official report drafted by PMSg Ronelyn B. Gomez.
