GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A suspected shipment of dried marijuana leaves was intercepted after a concerned courier staff surrendered two suspicious parcels to the police on Wednesday evening, October 15, 2025.
According to General Santos City Police Station 3, the courier staff turned over the packages around 6:00 p.m. after noticing a strange odor emanating from them.
Police investigation revealed that at around 1:30 p.m., a man identified only as alias “Edmar”, a resident of Barangay Labangal, tried to send two parcels through a private courier branch in Barangay Lagao. The parcels were reportedly addressed to alias “Ralph” of Bunawan, Agusan del Sur, and alias “Ash” of Tuba Tuba, Palawan.
After the sender left, the staff became suspicious due to the strong scent resembling dried tobacco and immediately reported it to authorities. Upon inspection, the parcels were found to contain dried marijuana leaves.
The confiscated items are now under the custody of Police Station 3 for proper documentation and disposition.
Police Regional Office 12 Director, PBGEN Arnold Ardiente, commended the courier personnel for their vigilance and honesty, stressing that their alertness helped prevent the illegal drug shipment from reaching its destination.
