KORONADAL CITY — Authorities successfully dismantled a suspected drug den during a buy-bust operation in Purok Punta Bario, Barangay Mabini, on October 1, 2025, at around 1:05 p.m.

The coordinated operation was carried out by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) South Cotabato Provincial Office and the PDEA Regional Office XII Regional Special Enforcement Team, with support from the South Cotabato Police Provincial Office–Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU).

During the operation, operatives arrested a suspect identified only as alias Denver, a farmer from Purok New Society, Barangay Esperanza. Another suspect, alias Joemar, was neutralized, while the alleged den owner, known as alias Rico, remains at large.

Seized from the site were approximately 15 grams of suspected shabu contained in seven sachets—one marked for sale and six for possession—as well as two improvised glass tooters with residue. Authorities also recovered non-drug items including a .45 caliber pistol with magazine and live ammunition, a hand grenade, a mobile phone, and a disposable lighter.

PDEA said the arrested suspect, along with the at-large individual, will face charges for violations of Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities stressed that intensified operations against drug dens and their protectors will continue as part of the government’s ongoing anti-illegal drugs campaign.
