T’BOLI, South Cotabato — The local government of T’boli has begun enforcing regulations on several business establishments operating along Tbolok Road in Sitio Datal Long, Barangay Basag, after finding multiple violations related to permits, environmental compliance, and unauthorized operations.

According to the LGU, the move followed the recommendation of the Municipal Multi-Sectoral Forest Protection Council, which convened on October 1, 2025, under the leadership of Mayor Keo Dayle T. Tuan and Vice Mayor Ronie L. Dela Peña.

The inspection revealed that some establishments in the area were operating without the required business, zoning, sanitary, and building permits, and were also found to be collecting entrance fees without proper authorization—clear violations of the town’s Revenue Code governing the issuance of permits and regulatory fees.

Moreover, several businesses were found violating Municipal Ordinance No. 60, Series of 2008, also known as the Municipal Ecological Solid Waste Management Ordinance, due to the absence of Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), lack of proper garbage bins, and improper waste disposal practices.

Sitio Datal Long, a popular destination among motorists and tourists for its cool climate and scenic views, is classified as forest land and part of the Ancestral Domain of the municipality. It is located at the natural watershed boundary between Barangays Basag and Mongocayo.

The LGU-Tboli assured that affected business owners have been given the opportunity to explain their side before any formal administrative action is taken. Once violations are confirmed, the municipal government will enforce the appropriate penalties in accordance with existing laws and ordinances.

Before this enforcement effort, the LGU had already formed a Joint Inspection Team led by Hon. Kirk T. Tuan, Chair of the SB Committee on Tourism, to conduct a thorough assessment and inspection of the area.

As part of ongoing efforts to maintain order and public safety, the LGU has also installed reminders on proper waste disposal and other local regulations. Mayor Tuan has since issued Municipal Executive Order No. 43, Series of 2025, directing the deployment of personnel from the PNP-Tboli, BPAT, Traffic Management Unit, MDRRMO, and other concerned offices to the site.

The directive aims to ensure public safety, preserve peace and order, and promote environmental discipline in one of T’boli’s fast-emerging tourist spots.
