CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The intensified anti-illegal drug campaign of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) led to the arrest of four drug suspects and the confiscation of an estimated ₱1,632,000 worth of suspected shabu in two separate operations conducted on October 21, 2025.
At around 2:21 a.m., combined elements of Police Station 4 Drug Enforcement Unit and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Regional Special Enforcement Team 10 (PDEA-RSET 10) carried out a buy-bust operation in Zone 2, Barangay Bayabas, Cagayan de Oro City.
Three suspects were arrested in the operation: alias “Nukos,” 55, single; alias “Rey,” 34, single; and alias “Gelo,” 31, married — all residents of Barangay Bayabas. Investigation revealed that “Nukos” was a repeat offender, while “Rey,” a first-time offender, served as helper to “Gelo,” who was identified as a High-Value Individual (HVI) and the source of their illegal drug activities.
Authorities seized nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The recovered drugs weighed approximately 140 grams, with a Standard Drug Price of ₱952,000.
Later that night, at around 11:16 p.m., operatives from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, together with PDEA-RSET 10, City Mobile Force Company, Police Station 5, Police Drug Enforcement Group – Special Operations Unit 10, and Regional Intelligence Unit 10, conducted another buy-bust operation in Sta. Cruz, Barangay Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro City.
The team arrested alias “Sammy,” 53, married, a resident of the area. Reports said he was a former seaman who turned to drug selling as his main source of income.
Confiscated from his possession were three heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 100 grams, worth an estimated ₱680,000, along with a ₱1,000 bill used as buy-bust money.
All suspects are currently detained at the Maharlika Custodial Facility, while charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against them. The seized items were submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit-10 for laboratory examination.
PBGEN Christopher N. Abrahano, Acting Regional Director of PRO-10, lauded the operating units for their success.
“I commend our operatives for their continued vigilance and dedication in combating the proliferation of illegal drugs in our communities. These operations send a strong message to those still involved in the drug trade — the law will catch up with you. Let us all work together to build a safer and drug-free Northern Mindanao,” Abrahano stated.
