CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities successfully recovered an estimated ₱1.72 million worth of smuggled cigarettes during a joint law enforcement operation along the national highway in Purok 1, Barangay Kalibao, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte, on the morning of October 20, 2025.
The operation was launched by personnel from the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), in coordination with the Sultan Naga Dimaporo Municipal Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 – 1005th Company, and the Maritime Police Station of Sultan Naga Dimaporo.
According to police reports, the team acted on a tip from a concerned citizen who reported suspicious activities in the area involving possible smuggled goods. Acting swiftly, the joint team proceeded to the site to verify the information.
Upon arrival, the operatives discovered several boxes abandoned along the roadside. Inspection revealed forty-three (43) master cases of Astro Red cigarettes, with an estimated market value of ₱1,720,000.00, based on the assessment of the Bureau of Customs.
All recovered items were brought to the 2nd PMFC Headquarters for documentation and proper turnover to the appropriate authorities.
Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano, Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), commended both the operating units and the community for their quick action and cooperation.
“This accomplishment underscores the importance of strong community support in our law enforcement efforts. When citizens work hand in hand with the police, we create a safer and more secure environment for everyone,” PBGEN Abrahano said.
PRO10 reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against smuggling and other illegal activities while strengthening border and maritime security across Northern Mindanao.
