October 5, 2025 – Alamada, Cotabato – A farmer was killed while a relative was wounded in a brutal shooting incident that occurred around 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Purok 7, Barangay Raradangan, Alamada, Cotabato.

The victim was identified as Mando Bambaki, a resident of the area. Initial police reports revealed that Bambaki, along with several family members—including a child—was gathering firewood when several armed men suddenly emerged and opened fire using high-powered firearms, including M16 rifles, Garand rifles, carbines, and .45 caliber pistols.

The hail of bullets instantly killed Bambaki, while one of his relatives sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Two others managed to flee and hide, narrowly escaping the attack. Fortunately, one of their companions, who was also at the scene, was unharmed.

Recovered from the crime scene were several spent shells from various high-powered weapons, indicating that multiple assailants were involved in what witnesses described as a massacre-like assault.

Police investigators are currently pursuing several angles in the probe. Although initial reports mentioned a possible land dispute, family members of the victim denied this, saying the issue over the land had already been settled in court and that the attack was a deliberate act of betrayal by individuals they once trusted.

Authorities are now conducting follow-up operations to identify and locate the suspects behind the attack. The local government and law enforcement agencies have also been urged to ensure the safety of residents in the area, as the incident has rekindled fears of renewed tension between local Moro and Christian communities.
