BAYUGAN CITY – A businessman was arrested by police authorities after being caught in possession of an illegal firearm on Wednesday night, October 16, 2025, in Purok 7, Barangay Salvacion.

According to a report from Bayugan City Police Station, the arrest came after officers received a call from a barangay official about the presence of an armed man in the area. Acting swiftly on the report, a police team led by PLT Noel T. Lambid, Deputy Chief of Police, under the supervision of PLTCOL Josef Carlo V. Silang, Chief of Police, immediately responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, the police spotted the suspect standing near the barangay gym with a firearm tucked on his waist. Witnesses confirmed that he was indeed the same person seen carrying the weapon.

Recovered from the suspect were the following items:

  • One (1) Caliber .45 Pistol M1911A1 COLT (Serial No. 760722)
  • One (1) magazine
  • Four (4) pieces of .45 caliber ammunition
  • One (1) holster

Police commended the cooperation of local residents and barangay officials, which led to the quick and safe arrest of the suspect. Authorities ensured that the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and the legal basis for his arrest.

PLTCOL Silang emphasized that the Bayugan City Police Station will continue to safeguard peace, order, and security in the city through consistent law enforcement efforts.
