BUTUAN CITY — Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 reported the confiscation of 38 loose firearms following intensified law enforcement operations conducted across the Caraga region from October 11 to 16, 2025.
According to the Regional Operations Division 13, three separate operations in Agusan del Norte led to the surrender of three small arms, while nine were turned over in Agusan del Sur. In Surigao del Norte, 11 firearms were surrendered, and another nine were confiscated in Surigao del Sur, where one suspect was also arrested.
The Butuan City Police Office reported the surrender of two firearms, while the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-13 seized four more weapons. Most of the confiscated firearms were pistols and revolvers.
Among those apprehended during the weeklong operations was a man known as alias “Jiggy,” 32, a resident of Purok 5, Barangay Dulag, Butuan City. He was arrested by personnel of Butuan City Police Station 5 around 1:00 AM on October 15, 2025, during the celebration of Araw ng Barangay Dulag, after allegedly drawing his firearm while under the influence of liquor.
Recovered from the suspect were one caliber .45 Springfield Armory pistol with serial number 193642, two magazines, and 14 live rounds of ammunition.
PBGen Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado IV, Regional Director of PRO13, lauded the operatives for their dedication, saying this achievement is part of their sustained efforts against loose firearms that could be used in crimes and illegal activities.
“This accomplishment forms part of our sustained campaign against loose firearms, which could otherwise be used in crimes and other illegal activities. I also urge all firearm holders to renew their licenses or voluntarily surrender their unregistered firearms to the nearest police station,” Magistrado said.
