Three suspects were arrested while more than ₱134,000 worth of illegal drugs and a loose firearm were seized in a series of police operations across the Caraga Region on Tuesday, October 7, police authorities reported.
According to the Police Regional Office 13 (PRO-13), the anti-drug operations were carried out in the provinces of Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur, resulting in the confiscation of shabu, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
In Barangay Cabcabon, Butuan City, joint operatives from the Butuan City Police Station 4 Drug Enforcement Unit and the Agusan del Norte Maritime Police Station arrested a suspect identified only as alias “Loloy”, 34.
Seized from his possession were 15 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱102,000, a paper bag containing suspected marijuana weighing around one gram worth ₱120, a .22-caliber revolver with live ammunition, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
In a separate buy-bust operation in Barangay 3 Poblacion, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, authorities apprehended alias “Lito”, 22, after he allegedly sold shabu to an undercover police officer. Recovered from him were 3.8 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱25,840.
Meanwhile, in Barangay 3, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, police arrested alias “Ric”, 34, who yielded one gram of suspected shabu valued at ₱6,800 and several drug-use paraphernalia.
All suspects are currently in police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. An additional case for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, will also be filed against alias “Loloy” for illegal possession of a firearm.
PBGEN Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado IV, Regional Director of PRO-13, lauded the operating units for their successful anti-drug operations and reaffirmed the regional police’s commitment to curbing illegal drugs and criminality in the region.
“We are firm in our commitment to eradicate illegal drugs and other forms of criminality through sustained intelligence-driven police operations and community partnership,” Magistrado said.
Authorities assured that similar operations will continue as part of the intensified campaign against illegal drugs in Caraga.
