Banaybanay, Davao Oriental – The 2nd Field Artillery Battalion (2FAB) of the Artillery Regiment successfully conducted a Live Fire Exercise (LFX) of the 105mm Howitzer on September 9–10, 2025, at Barangays Causwagan and Maputi in Banaybanay, Davao Oriental.
The exercise highlighted the capability and readiness of Alpha Battery, 2FAB, in delivering accurate and responsive fire support through Field Artillery Gunnery Proficiency Fire using the 105mm Howitzer. Troops from the 66th and 67th Infantry Battalions, under the 701st Infantry Brigade, served as Fire Observers to ensure joint interoperability and reinforce combat proficiency.
The live fire drill was supported by Brig. Gen. Allan Jose L. Taguba, Commander of the 701st Brigade, and supervised by Lt. Col. Harold P. Villaviza, Commanding Officer of 2FAB.
Local leaders and stakeholders also took part in the activity, led by Davao Oriental Governor Nelson Dayanghirang Sr., along with municipal officials from across the province and invited guests from neighboring Davao de Oro. Members of the community, including students from nearby schools, witnessed the demonstration of artillery capabilities.
Following the live fire exercise, a ceremonial awarding of the “King of Battle” Tab was held, recognizing Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang, who also serves as Commanding Officer of the 1105th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion, 2201st Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade. Also honored as honorary members of the Artillery Regiment were Lt. Col. Louie Dondi P. Jabagat, Commanding Officer of the 66th Infantry Battalion; Lt. Col. Edwin C. Pia, Commanding Officer of the 67th Infantry Battalion; and other distinguished guests.
The successful event underscored the Philippine Army’s commitment to operational readiness, joint force coordination, and active engagement with local stakeholders in support of national defense.
