Butuan City, Agusan del Norte — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 13 (PDEA RO 13), in coordination with the Butuan City Police Office and other law enforcement units, confiscated suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia during a dawn operation in Barangay Holy Redeemer on September 2, 2025.
Acting on Search Warrant No. 2025-07-09-01-01, authorities seized five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing around seven grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱47,600. They also recovered lighters with improvised foil needles, aluminum foil strips, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
The operation stemmed from weeks of intensive surveillance and intelligence gathering. PDEA officials emphasized that careful case build-up was key to the operation’s success.
The joint effort was spearheaded by the PDEA Agusan del Norte Provincial Office, with assistance from the Seaport Interdiction Unit – Nasipit, the Airport Interdiction Unit, the Butuan City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit, the PDEA Legal and Prosecution Unit, and Butuan City Police Station 2.
Several individuals, including two minors whose ages are still being confirmed, were arrested during the raid. They face charges for violating Sections 6, 7, 11, 12, and 15, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Authorities said the minors will be referred to appropriate child-caring institutions in line with existing laws.
PDEA and local police reiterated their commitment to sustaining inter-agency cooperation in the anti-drug campaign. They also urged the public to continue providing information that could help dismantle drug networks in the Caraga Region.
