September 7, 2025 — El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has released its latest regional forecast, warning Mindanao residents of partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms today, September 7, until early tomorrow morning.

According to PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD), the Caraga and Davao regions will experience weather conditions influenced by easterlies, while the rest of Mindanao will be affected by localized thunderstorms. The agency cautioned that heavy downpours during severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides, especially in flood-prone and mountainous areas.

Winds across the island will generally be light to moderate coming from the southeast to south, shifting to southwest in some areas, with seas ranging from slight to moderate (0.6 to 1.5 meters).

Regional Breakdown

  • Zamboanga Peninsula — Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of rainshowers or thunderstorms throughout the day and evening. Temperatures will range from 22°C to 33°C. Coastal waters remain slight to moderate.
  • Northern Mindanao — Provinces including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental will also experience partly cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Daytime highs may reach 32°C, with cooler temperatures at night dipping to 21°C in Bukidnon’s upland areas.
  • Davao Region — Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental are forecasted to have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with intermittent thunderstorms. Maximum daytime temperatures are expected between 31°C and 33°C, with slight to moderate seas.
  • SOCCSKSARGEN — North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms possible in the afternoon or evening. Highs will reach 33°C in Sultan Kudarat and lows will settle around 22°C in upland areas.
  • Caraga Region — Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands are expected to experience partly cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms. Agusan del Norte may experience some of the warmest conditions, with highs reaching 35°C.
  • Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) — Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur will have generally fair weather with brief periods of rainshowers or thunderstorms. Temperature highs range from 29°C in Lanao del Sur’s cooler areas to 33°C in Maguindanao del Sur.

Public Advisory

PAGASA advised residents, particularly those living in low-lying and mountainous areas, to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms. Fisherfolk and small seacraft operators are also reminded to observe caution as moderate winds and slight to moderate seas may still pose risks in open waters.
